Plato Academy of Tarpon Springs hosted the Plato Academy Schools Academic Excellence Awards ceremony on April 23rd, recognizing 5th and 8th grade students who completed advanced coursework in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and ancient Greek.
The awards ceremony, held annually, honored students who achieved mastery in the school's accelerated curriculum. Chief of Schools Amy Hayes noted that the recognition reflects genuine academic accomplishment emphasising that "These students embraced demanding coursework and demonstrated real capability,".
The evening featured musical performances by currently enrolled Plato Academy Students Aiden Call (violin) and Jorge Gomez (piano), as well as student artwork from plato academy campuses displayed throughout the venue and on a slideshow on the screen behind the auditorium stage. Ava Cane beautifuly performed the Greek and American national anthems.
Two Plato Academy alumni, Juliana Tsiouklas and Niki Glynatsis, received the Steve Christopoulos Teacher Scholarships this year. Both attended Plato Academy as students, earned education degrees, and returned as teachers.
Principals representing eight Plato Academy campuses attended the ceremony: Dr. Bob Pape of Pinellas Park, Evangelos Valsamis of Trinity, Emily Heilman of Tarpon Springs, Heather Jenkins of Tampa, Nichole Jones of Seminole, Jacquline Miteloudis of Palm Harbor, Sara Sutera of Clearwater, and Michele West of St. Petersburg.
The ceremony recognized Plato Academy's board members, Chairman Louis Kokkinakos, Vice Chairman John Petalas, and Secretary George Antonaklas, as well as sponsors Komninos Law Firm, the Fang Family, and the Tawadros Family.
